I was recently listening to the Camp Blood Radio podcast and they had artist Chris Ferruchie on to discuss his Slashhouse Studios and the many sculpts of famous horror icons he produces. He is just starting to venture into Friday The 13th territory and creating the many looks of Jason Voorhees. Recently, he completed busts of Jason from Friday The 13th Part III and Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter and they look incredible. Chris has only been sculpting for three years(!) and has produced some truly remarkable pieces that collectors are clamoring for.

Below are some of the excellent pieces he has created and Chris will be sculpting even more Jason likenesses from the films in the future. The majority of his work is silicone based now, which gives a life-like quality to his creations.

You can check out all of his work on this Instagram page and if you are interested in his The Final Chapter Jason, head on over to Etsy Page now to get your copy.

Huge Friday The 13th: A New Beginning Reunion Coming To Chicago This Summer!

There is nothing better than getting to meet those actors who helped tell the tale of the deranged psychopaths Pamela and Jason Voorhees. Very few alumni can say that they survived the maniacal attacks of the Voorhees clan on film and an equally short list exists of those who played Jason and Pamela Voorhees. Friday The 13th: A New Beginning brought many of these characters together and this August you can meet a number of the actors who helped bring that movie to life.

Flashback Weekend in Chicago is quickly growing a nice A New Beginning reunion, with Dick Wieand (Roy Burns), Carol Locatell (Ethel Hubbard), Ron Sloan (Junior Hubbard) Deborah Voorhees (Tina), and Melanie Kinnaman (Pam Roberts) announced to be in attendance. Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention takes place the weekend of July 31 through August 2nd, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago O’Hare.

There is going to be special photo ops with the Hubbards and the original prop head of Junior from the film.

There may be more Friday The 13th alumni announced in the future, so keep an eye out here or at the Flashback Weekend website for more updates.

New Friday The 13th: A New Beginning Behind The Scenes Photos Surface Of Roy On Spikes

We just passed the 35th anniversary of one of the most controversial entries in the Friday The 13th franchise and the fifth film A New Beginning has definitely left it’s mark with Friday fans as well as the horror community as a whole. The interesting decision to go back to a whodunit and make the central character Tommy Jarvis has continued to divide our readers, but the reveal of the killer at the conclusion of A New Beginning has been even more troublesome for fans to understand.

The reveal of Roy Burns as the killer was presented with a gruesome death as he fell outside the barn from the loft onto a bed of spikes. The awkward reveal of the killer without the mask while he laid on the spikes was difficult for many to discern as the killer’s face was not exactly the easiest to make out in the rain and lighting. Eventually, all was explained later in the hospital by the Sheriff as to Roy’s connection to the Pinehurst Halfway house. Roy as the killer has lived on in infamy for four decades now, and so has the prop of Roy laying on the spikes that revealed him as the killer.

Over the years, many behind the scenes photos have popped up online showing off the various props from A New Beginning, including one very famous image of the prop that has a Roy Burns dummy on the bed of spikes. It’s great to find these rare treasures, but now a few new images have surfaced, thanks to Tommy Syme in our Facebook Group. Below you will find some brand new, never before seen images of the bed of spikes prop that give a really clear look at ol’ Roy.

One of the really nice details you can clearly see in the image is Roy’s right hand has been severed, which shows off great continuity for the film. If you’re a fan of A New Beginning, these photos are sure to make you smile as behind the scenes photos always lend great insight into the making of these fun and entertaining films!

Although we are just a few weeks removed from the latest Friday The 13th date of 2020, the Movies! Network is going to be showing their own Friday The 13th marathon on April Fool’s Day this Wednesday! They are showing the original eight Paramount films in the franchise all day as the television event kicks off at 8am EST.

I watched a number of these films when they were aired on the network a few years ago and a lot of the kills were left intact. Only language found unacceptable by today's standards were bleeped out and even the scenes with nudity were left in with a blurred patch placed over the frames. These are definitely worth a watch to see how much of the film is left in place.

Some Rare Behind The Scenes ‘Friday The 13th Part 3’ Images Surface

There have been some unbelievable behind the scenes photos that have been uncovered over the years for various films in the franchise. We have been lucky to debut some pretty rare stuff on our site, but the volume of unseen photos has diminished as each decade passes. We really enjoy bringing this type of content to our readers, so today we are happy to show off some behind the scenes photos for Friday The 13th Part III!

We were provided these via Facebook and are amazing. With that being said, some these photos have definitely made the rounds online in a smaller capacity over the past couple of years, but I think the for the majority of the fans, these will definitely be some first time looks during the production of Part III. The full Rick dummy used for the head crush scene is spectacular and seeing Richard Brooker standing in for Jason without the hockey mask for the fire place poker death is a very fun visual.

What do you think about these photos? Which have you seen before and what photos are you seeing for the first time?

From the people who brought you "Friday the 13th, Parts 1 and 2" comes the most hair-raising yet -- PART 3.

An idyllic summer turns into a nightmare of unspeakable terror for yet another group of naive counselors. Ignoring Camp Crystal Lake's bloody legacy, one by one they fall victim to the maniacal Jason who stalks them at every turn...

"Friday the 13th, Part 3" will have you frozen with fear, as Jason finds his way into your living room!

The 40th Anniversary of Friday The 13th 1980 is quickly approaching and our camp tour report will posted shortly on the site in time for the celebration. The original film is a horror classic and ushered in an era of cheap slasher films quickly released into theaters to capitalize on Friday The 13th’s success. We enjoy bringing new information and photos to our readers for each film in the franchise and today we have a few great behind the scenes photos from the 1980 film.

C and V Promotions represent a number of alumni from the Friday The 13th films for convention appearances and recently a few photos from their client Jeannine Taylor have made it online and they are really cool. The behind the scenes photos are from Jeannine’s death scene from the original film. As you can see, she is having a lot of fun posing for the camera.

It’s great to see more unseen photos from the production of the original film and we thank Jeannine and C and V Promotions for making these available for everyone to see!

Original Marketing Lithograph Proof For ‘Friday The 13th: A New Beginning’

Most of our readers would agree that as the years pass by, Friday The 13th: A New Beginning has become more enjoyable to watch and has definitely found its place in the franchise. It’s a far cry from the 1980’s when it was difficult to find anyone who would admit to liking the movie. Promotion for the film was excellent, although a bit deceiving in the United States, but the international marketing put a young boy (most assuredly Tommy Jarvis) front and center in the imagery for posters and home video covers.

A few years back, we found out that this imagery was actually discarded marketing for the 80’s vampire film Near Dark. Pretty wild stuff, and recently the original lithograph printers proof for the home video cover was made available for sale, which can be seen below. Collector and fan Kyle Murray was lucky enough to get his hands on this awesome piece of history!

Do you like this artwork more than what was used on U.S. home video covers?

While the lawsuit has brought to a halt all licensed merchandise for the franchise, artists and fans of the films have carried the torch with their own creations. Fan films exploded last year during the hiatus and collectibles have been constantly resurrected by very talented artists. That brings us to Justin at Distraction Figures  who recently posted about the five variant retro figures he created for young Jason from Friday The 13th 1980.

These designs are genius as the card back has incorporated water into the overall look of the figure that is housed in the packaging. There were only five created and a few of these are currently up for auction on eBay.

Check out all of the variants for the figure below and let us know now what your favorite is and if you are going to try and win the auction for the available figures!

Revisit Camp Forest Green With New Fan Film From Allrise Films

Last month director Christopher Greffrath and his brother Bob released their new Friday The 13th Fan Film Camp Forest Green. The film has a group of campers hike to Halloway Haven, a beautiful cabin in Camp Forest Green where they encounter a certain hockey masked resident.

The film definitely finds an 1980’s vibe in the tradition of the original franchise with entertaining characters and good special effects. Jason gets a slightly updated hockey mask which adds a little edge to the character. The best scene in the film is when one would-be victim is making food in the kitchen while listening to music in his headphones while his friends are behind him in the background all fighting Jason.

Visit the Allrise YouTube channel to find more of their short films and also visit their Facebook page for information on current and upcoming projects. Check out the short film below and leave your thoughts in our comment section.

Custom Friday The 13th Guitar Represents The Franchise Proudly

We haven’t written enough about fan creations lately, and not just fan films, but unique items that are passion projects outside of bringing Jason back to the screen. We were recently contacted by Mike about his awesome Friday The 13th themed guitar, which took him a number of months to design and create. If you are a guitar enthusiast then this project will definitely interest you!

Mike explains about the guitar:

It took many months to design and make this guitar. The body has a small piece of wood embedded in Kerdi foam board for all the hardware ( pick up, bridge , volume, tone pots and neck to attach to ). I then tiled the entire body and embedded a Jason mask into the front. I took a Jackson guitar logo and removed the c and k to make it say Jason. I took a Camp Crystal Lake enamel pin and used it for the truss rod cover. The neck has skull tuning pegs and 13 skull and crossbone inlays. I put an EMG metal works 81 active pick up in it and the guitar is fully operational and sounds great. I made this out of pure love for the guitar and the franchise.

This is truly epic and it is a pleasure to see fans continuing to keep the franchise alive while we wait for a new movie.

Visiting Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco: Celebrating The 40th Anniversary Of Friday The 13th!

I was only five years old when I got my first glimpse of Mrs. Voorhees and she legitimately terrified me to my core. While living on an Air Force Base in Illinois, my family had a number of guests over for game and movie night. The women and children played Connect Four and Candy Land in the kitchen while the men sat in the living room, watching the original Friday The 13th. The night was coming to an end and I was tasked with putting our board games away in the hallway closet. To get to that closet, I had to walk through the living room, and what heard and saw next left an indelible mark on my psyche.

"Ki Ki Ki Ma Ma Ma" filled the room as I passed through. The eerie sound caused me to freeze dead in my tracks, and as I focused on the television, I saw Mrs. Voorhees, spilling her soul to the unsuspecting Alice. Even at that age, I felt for Pamela, but I was unprepared for the hatred and loss she was about to unleash on the last camp counselor. After the final battle between Alice and Mrs. Voorhees ended with the mother's beheading, I could not move. I did not know what to think or feel at that point. My father finally realized I was in the room and witnessed the entire ending of the film. He was upset, of course, but quickly ordered me to put the games away and get ready for bed. The problem was, I could not. that dark hallway now represented everything that I feared at that time. Over the years, I learned to face a number of fears through childhood into adulthood, but that was 1982 and at the time, I had no idea the impact Pamela and the entire Friday The 13th franchise would have on my life.

After a brief hiatus where I never watched a single horror film, I was drawn back to the Friday The 13th films with The Final Chapter. That film brought back that same fear I felt with the original Pamela tale and I then started consuming every Fangoria magazine I could find (sometimes outright stealing my friend's father's copies). I was obsessed. And as more movies were released, the more enthused I became about the franchise.

Once the 1980's disappeared, so did a lot of the momentum for my fandom for Friday The 13th. I was in High School at this point with girls and sports to deal with. I had no time to convey my love of Pamela and Jason Voorhees. After High School, I hit many low points, but I rediscovered Friday The 13th and not only my passion for the franchise, but for films in general. I eventually started this website to show my passion for the the most unluckiest of days. As I began to write about the films, I realized that the original film completely set the tone for my love of films and how I could cope with adversity and fear. You see, that night back in 1982, I mustered enough courage to put those games away. I conquered that fear and still use that same feeling of dread and despair to motivate myself in everyday life. To make it come full circle, I had to visit the place where it all began. I had to go back to Crystal Lake.

For many years, I had tried to get tickets to the ever growing and popular camp tours put on by the New Jersey Boy Scouts for the opportunity to visit the original camp location Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco. Last year, I was finally able to purchase tickets to the Friday event and I was beyond ecstatic! My wife and daughter drove with me out to New Jersey for that weekend from the Midwest. What a great feeling to have a cross country road trip to go to the camp that will forever be in my heart. I kind of felt like Jack and Marcy and Ned driving out to the camp to help Steve!

Before my family drove into Blairstown, we stopped in Hope, New Jersey to visit the place where Annie is dropped off by Enos at the crossroads. It is still strange to me to think that I actually stood at the road and cemetary of a scene I have watched over 100 times since I was a child. That moment will always be in my top 3 favorite moments of the entire trip.

We missed the store interior location in Hope where Annie walks into the Diner to ask how to get to Crystal Lake. I think I was so excited to get to Blairstown, it just skipped my mind, but I don't have a ton of regrets about that one. Once we got into Blairstown, I was surprised at how close in proximity the Diner was to the main road of downtown that we have all see in the film. I always envisioned it being somewhere on the outskirts, but it is just a block away. Pretty wild to find that out.

The Blairstown Diner was so much fun! I realized that the main counter where Sandy stands behind had been altered and that the entrance had been completely changed from one side of the building to other! I talked incessantly with the staff about the history of the Diner and the fans that they have encountered over the years. They mentioned numerous people coming in wearing hockey masks and Mrs. Voorhees sweaters. You wouldn't believe how much some of the people knew about the filming in the town. I was shocked at how open and kind most everyone was to my family, even knowing I was one of many invading their town because of a movie called Friday The 13th. I even bought a Blairstown Diner shirt.

Over at the main road of town, I had to get pictures of the famous archway that Annie walks through and I visited the Blairstown Museum that not only holds the famous history of the town itself, but also of the filming and production of Friday the 13th. In the museum I found many cool items and memorabilia for sale, but the one thing that really caught my eye was an original shooting script and call sheets from the 1980 film. The almost priceless item was brought to Blairstown by Kyle Harvey, who was lucky enough to purchase the item from auction quite recently.

After taking in the sights of Blairstown, we traveled to the camp that I had always dreamed to visit, but never thought in a million years I would ever get to visit. When my family got to the entrance of the camp, we had a nice wait before being let in. It might have been because we got their a little early!

We were greeted by a number of volunteers after parking and directed to the main eating area. It is an open air pavillion of sorts that I was shocked to learn served as the opening scene of the film where the counselors are singing Hallelujah. That's correct, the opening scene around a fireplace is not in a cabin, but an open air eating area. The original fire place is still there and I sat in front of it talking to the original cook who was employed by the camp during filming of Friday The 13th back in 1979.

That guy had stories to tell, but my favorite was about Crazy Ralph's bike. He told me that he use to ride around on that bike all the time and one day he went to ride it and it was gone, permanently for all time. The cook was pretty upset and always believed fans even back in the early 1980's found the camp and took the bike as a souvenir. While in the eating area, we were surprised by Adrienne King and Ron Milkie, in full police uniform!

After we were done with introductions and suiting up with the sweet backpacks we were provided by the camp. group were taken to begin the tour of the campgrounds. My group started at the Shower House, where Marcie infamously was killed by Mrs. Voorhees with an axe. As most of us know now, there were no working sinks or showers in this building initially and were constructed specifically for filming. My family and the group went inside and the volunteers had setup a nice little homage to Marcie's scene, complete with sink, rain coat, and a neat little shower curtain that had a shadow of an axe projected on the curtain. Sadly, I did not get a photo of that effect. At the back of the building, Marcie herself, Jeannine Taylor was sitting at a table to take photos, sign autographs, and share stories.

The next stop on the tour was the Main Cabin that all of the counselors spent time in at one point or another in the film. One funny story had to do with the totem pole at the entrance to the cabin. It can be seen in the film, but at some point many years later after filming had commenced, it disappeared completely. Later, an anonymous tip was given to the Boy Scouts that the totem pole was in a dorm room of a local college. Eventually, it was returned unharmed!

The inside of the Main Cabin was exactly what you would expect it to look like from the film. The entrance room still had the fireplace and a well-placed Monopoly game (rumor has it a game of strip Monopoly was played in the cabin later that night, but I cannot confirm). It was the room that served as a kitchen that was completely different. The "kitchen" is actually just another room to bunk in with more beds, but for filming, a sink and oven was added to the room and the door that Alice opens to hide in the pantry is actually not a pantry at all. It did not exist before filming and does not now. That door is simply an entrance and exit to the side of the cabin. The pantry was built onto the side of the building just for the film!

Next, we went to Brenda's Cabin. This building has definitely had some renovations done to it, most notable from the outside, which is great! Inside, you can find some very recognizable objects and features, including the sink in Brenda's cabin as well as the location of the bed with a nice prop left for us to see.

After that we took a quick trip to Alice's Cabin which was pretty empty, but there was a fun time had with a rubber snake that was left behind. A few people in my group took turns attempting to chop that thing into itty bitty little pieces. The tour group was also taken to the location of where the cabin used to be where Alice and Steve discuss his drawing from the night before. Sadly, that cabin had to be torn down many years ago as it was in really bad shape.

One of the most fun parts of the tour was the Archery Range. As our tour guide pointed out, Alice could not have seen the lights from the Archery Range as the distance away from the Main Cabin and numerous trees would have concealed the lights. I kind of liked that tidbit. Once at the location, you could tell that it was not used just for archery, but for rifle shooting as well. We had to be careful about not going to far out passed the targets in the grass because of poison ivy and such.

Next we visited the Office as well as the Generator Shed. There wasn't much to offer in terms of information about the office, but the Generator Shed was kind of interesting. We were not allowed to go inside the shed as seen in the movie as its deemed too dangerous. I cannot recall exactly, but I do not think there is a generator in the building anymore, just electrical equipment. If I am wrong, I am sure our readers will let me know.

The last two buildings I checked out were sort of on my own own as the Generator Shed was in the same area. The first building is what I thought of as a barn in the opening of the film where Barry and Claudette go into the loft and are killed by Mrs. Voorhees. It was explained to me that it is now a utility shed/building where a lot of the camp's equipment is stored. No one was allowed to go inside. The second building is where Alice goes to get the rifle while fleeing from Mrs. Voorhees. From what I was told, this building is not used for much of anything anymore and is more or less storage.

The day wound down as we ate dinner and prepared to watch the original film on the big screen right on "Crystal Lake". What a surreal experience it was to watch the fight scene between Mrs. Voorhees and Alice and then just look to the left of the screen at the actual beach it happened on! After the film was over, a number of us made smores at a camp fire before we all retired to a cabin for the night. My cabin was on the other side of the lake. This provided an excellent point of view shot of the camp and beach, just like Mrs. Voorhees had in the film!

I have to tell you, I didn't sleep much that night. I just gazed out the windows and marvelled at the beauty of the scenery and the camp itself. I stood out front of the cabin and it was unbelievable. I eventually went to sleep, but woke up quite early. At 6am, I was out of the cabin, and I decided to take a little video of the immediate area as I walked from my cabin all the way to the beach. Standing on this lake, in this camp, thinking back to all of the times I watched the film and imagined I was in the movie, I could not believe it. Hardly anyone was outside at this point of the morning. I felt like I had the camp all to myself. It was possibly the most surreal moment of my entire life.

As everyone woke up from the cabins, we all got to take canoe rides to on the lake, which was another head trip. The ability to be on the lake (Ok, it's Sand Pond, not an actual lake, but it looks like one from certain views) was another unreal experience. I asked the person who was steering the canoe to take me by the boat house, which is sadly partially under water as well as where the cabin use to stand where Ned was killed by Mrs. Voorhees. There are some beautiful shots of the lake while in the canoe.

The boat house is slowly going under water as well as the beach due to beavers building a dam at the end of the lake, which the Boy Scouts cannot have taken down due to the dam being on someone else's property. It's a real shame, and I hope the all parties involved can find a resolution to save the land around the camp location.

After the canoe rides, we got to have a Q & A session with Adrienne, Jeannette and Ron. There was some hilarious stories and banter between the three of them. After that, it was sadly time to leave. I truly did not want to and it was hard to go.

I have to take a moment and thank all of the people involved in this camp tour event. First, C and V Promotions. Chris and Stacey do an amazing job of continuously bringing the franchise alumni to fans to meet and sign autographs and having Jeannette, Ron, and Adrienne at camp doesn't get any better for the full experience.

I have to thank all of the volunteers who came out and spent the weekend managing numerous tours and the countless people that were full of excitement. I was really impressed by the knowledge of the volunteers, not only of the camp's history, but also of the correlation of scenes in Friday The 13th. Huge kudos to everyone.

I have to especially thank Paul from Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco. It is absolutely killing me that I cannot remember his last name. This guy is unbelievable. He has a true passion for his camp. When I say "his" camp, I mean just that. He feels a real responsibility to the camp, it's surroundings, and the kids that visit the unbelievable area every year. He treats it just like his own and I have the utmost respect for him and everything he is doing to keep Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco running for future generations to come. He treated myself and my family so well and I will never forget the experience that he created for me and the countless fans that came before and after me.

I highly recommend this tour. Find a way to visit Blairstown and the camp. If you're a fan of the franchise, and especially the original film, this tour is a must. As all of us celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original film and the birth of this glorious franchise, I think back to when I was a kid and discovered Friday The 13th 1980 for the first time. It definitely affected me, in a positive way, and it is amazing for me to think that now in my 40's, I can still reflect on all of the years watching these films, never truly letting go of my fandom, and all of the great relationships I have made online and in person because of a little boy drowning at a sleepy summer camp and a vengeful mother named Mrs. Voorhees.

Fangoria was on a brief hiatus for a few years before changing hands to the publication’s new owner Cinestate in 2018. The historic magazine began it’s second run in October 2018 with the first issue covering the latest Halloween film entry directed by David Gordon Green as well as a plethora of other engaging articles covering the horror genre. Many fans have been waiting for Friday The 13th to grace the pages of the new incarnation of the magazine and now we get word that the wait is over.

Yesterday, the brand new cover was revealed for Issue 8, which showcases a large number of iconic characters and villains from 1970’s and 1980’s films. The cover was illustrated by Nathan Thomas Milliner and was designed to accompany one of the lead articles of the issue which showcases actor Patton Oswalt’s comic strip he submitted to Fangoria back in 1984 and now is being printed for the first time, which includes an essay Patton recently wrote discussing his comic strip.

The big news for our readers is that Bryan Fuller is taking a deep dive into the mother and son relationship of the original 1980 classic film Friday The 13th. This is great treat for the 40th anniversary of the film and it will be fun to see the franchise in the pages of Fangoria Magazine once again! Friday The 13th Part 2 Writer Ron Kurz Passes Away

Many fans believe Friday The 13th Part 2 to be one of the best, if not, the best film in the franchise. Ron Kurz wrote the screenplay for the film and was the driving force in creating the unforgettable characters that populated the story at the counselor training center where teenagers went to train five years after the fateful events at Camp Crystal Lake. Ron was a very talented writer that also had uncredited writing work on the original 1980 film.

Sadly, we learned today from one of our readers, Yakutja, that Ron passed away suddenly on May 7th of heart failure. He was 79 years old. Prior to helping write the first two Friday The 13th films, he was a correctional officer in Maryland as well as a published author.

Ron claimed to come up with the idea for the jump scare with young Jason Voorhees at the end of Friday The 13th 1980, so that, coupled with his excellent writing for Friday The 13th Part 2, built the foundation for 40 years of Crystal Lake adventures that fans have enjoyed around the world. Thank you, Ron, for helping create a legacy of fear that we will never forget.

To find out more about Ron’s life, please read his obituary.

It has been a few years since our site has supported a message forum, as we have been trying to keep everything on one site for news, but there has been a demand for the forum lately, so I decided to open up www.fridaythe13thfanatics.com again. It was a thriving area for a few years when the Crystal Lake Memories documentary was in production as well as when we got the 2013 Blu-Ray box set.

It was bit to manage the posts and users, but it was also a lot of fun engaging in many fun discussions with fellow fans. With the 40th anniversary of the franchise happening this year and some fun announcements for fans to sink their teeth into in the near future, it seemed appropriate to being the forum back and see where it takes our readers.

Stephen King Wants To Write A Jason Voorhees Novel!

The idea of an origin story has been kicked around for many years for the Voorhees family and that almost came to fruition with the cancelled 2017 film that revealed the sorted history of Mr. and Mrs. Vooorhees before Jason would go on his bloody rampages. Author Stephen King offered up his own idea for a new Jason tale last on Twitter where he would like to give Jason’s point of view.

This idea would actually be great, almost like the viewer becoming Jason (i.e. the video game) and reliving all of his greatest stalks, but also his greatest demises. Would you be onboard for a first person Jason Voorhees Friday The 13th story? I think it would be awesome to get a different perspective of the story and it could be an interesting approach to the 40 year old material.

Stephen even goes on to reference the ongoing legal issues the franchise would present.

Would you want to see this type of Jason Voorhees story unfold?
