In addition to his work as Jason in the Friday The 13th films, Kane's impressive career spans three decades and includes many films such as Hatchet, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 and Prison. Danielle Panabaker Reflects On Friday the 13th 2009 And Lost Scenes

Back in April of 2009, Danielle Panabaker (Jenna, Friday The 13th 2009) was on the set of the remake to George Romero's The Crazies.Bloody Disgusting was on set interviewing Danielle and the interview switched to Friday The 13th 2009 and what may have been cut from the film. She had some interesting insights into what was changed.

We can now, of course, verify that none of these scenes ever made it onto the DVD release in June 2009, but according to Danielle, these specific scenes or story devices were in fact changed from script to screen. So read on for her thoughts and see if you would have liked to have seen these changes/additions to the film.

Her thoughts on Platinum Dunes and Brad Fuller/Andrew Form ......

“I did a horror film with them for a reason because they are so good at their job. To understand what goes into it and the formula was really fascinating to me. I have just the highest regard for them.”

As for the changes in the film ......

“The original idea was that my character got out onto the bus with Jared, Amanda and Derek. I think they couldn’t get a location that worked and there was a really cute line about, ‘Maybe on our next date we’ll do something a little more romantic,’ [and] then my character gets it. [It’s] after this big fight involving a fire extinguisher and all this crazy stuff. But when it came time to actually shoot the bus scene, they decided I couldn’t be at the bus. They had to come up with a death for me that came before those characters got to the bus.”

“I can’t believe, thinking back, how much was actually cut out of FRIDAY. All this different stuff. There was a scene where Trent tells my character, ‘That’s our bedroom.’ It’s a little bit more in the script even than I think in what we shot. There was a scene where I was in the bedroom. So the relationships were a little bit clearer. There was a moment that didn’t make it into the film where my character looks at Bree (Julianna Guill) and is like, ‘What are you doing with my man!’ Not that he’s really mine because I’ve been off in the woods with someone else.”

Ever since we first broke the news in 2013 that an upstart vinyl record company was going to release Friday The 13th soundtracks, they have given fans some of the most innovative and exciting collectibles provided to the community. We knew it was only a matter of time, but Waxwork Records recently teased their upcoming release of Friday The 13th: A New Beginning with a first look at the album art!

Below you can get that first look at the cover for the soundtrack of the fifth film in the franchise. There has been no word on release date as of yet, but this release will be sure to drum up more conversation about Roy, The Hubbard's and those damn enchiladas. Stay tuned for more about this release later this year.

Jason is back, hockey mask and all. And he's up to his old maniacal tricks in Friday the 13th Part V -- A New Beginning. This time he seems to have set his sights on the young patients at a secluded halfway house. And more than a few of his teen targets end up in half, in quarters ... you name it, Jason does it.

This is the fifth scary installment in the Friday the 13th saga. If you liked the the first four, and think you're up to getting back on Jason's bloody trail, you'll love Friday the 13th Part V -- A New Beginning.

Hollywood Theater Presents 'The New Blood' On 35mm This Friday The 13th!

Friday The 13th Part 7: The New Blood is the one entry in the franchise that has a well-documented power struggle between director and producer, and that coupled with the heavy editing (and censorship) orchestrated by the MPAA, make this a fascinating film based on the production alone. As a movie, the most basic Friday The 13th formula is delivered to fan's delight with a psychokinetic twist. Jason Voorhees is at his absolute nastiest, so it is great pleasure to report on a very special screening of the film.

In order to celebrate The New Blood's 30th anniversary, the Hollywood Theater in Portland, Oregon will be screening the film on 35mm on Friday, April 13th. The film will play at 9:30pm that night so purchase your tickets now to enjoy the show!

The Hollywood Theatre’s bimonthly program QUEER HORROR meets again on a rare Friday the 13th for nothing other than FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VII: THE NEW BLOOD! This 30th anniversary 35mm screening opens with a preshow tribute to Camp Crystal Lake and the Haus of Voorhees hosted by Portland’s premier drag clown Carla Rossi!

Fans are starving to see some of their favorite Friday The 13th films in theaters as many people either missed the opportunity when the films first ran in theaters on their initial release or they want to relive the great experiences from their younger years. One of the most popular films from the franchise to watch on the big screen is Friday The 13th Part 3 and the reasoning should be obvious as it is a chance to see the film in proper 3-D on 35mm film.

Nite Owl Cinema is making this rare 3-D showing a reality this weekend! Part 3 will be screened twice this weekend, both on Friday March 30th at 10pm and Saturday March 31st at midnight in the original 3-D presentation that helped make the third installment in the franchise a crowd-pleasing hit. The cost for the event $10, so make sure to buy your tickets soon.

These 3-D screenings of Part 3 are getting more rare as the years pass so if you are able to attend this screening and have never seen the film in it's proper format, it is highly recommended you make the trip out to see Jason and numerous objects jump out from the screen at you!

Platinum Dunes Discusses Doomed 2017 Friday The 13th Film

I know that having Platinum Dunes and doomed in any subject line is old hat to fans these days. There have been numerous attempts by the company to create a follow-up to their last franchise film, Friday The 13th 2009. Let's face it, maybe Crazy Ralph was onto something and this franchise indeed is cursed. As our readers are aware, it was a little more than a year ago that production was just about ready to commence on a brand new Friday The 13th film in the surrounding area of Atlanta, Georgia. Suddenly, with just four weeks left before principal photography was about to start, Paramount Pictures pulled the plug. Fan outrage was fierce, and many questions loomed.

There has never been an official reason why the film was shelved by either Platinum Dunes or Paramount. Recently, however, the site Rooster Teeth caught up with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form while they were out promoting their new film A Quiet Place and Eric Vespe asked the duo what the heck happened to Jason coming back to the big screen.
Brad Fuller: We never got a clear answer from Paramount as to why that movie got shut down. I think at the end of the day that administration, which is no longer there, didn't see horror as a viable part of what they were doing. Also they were coming off of Rings and that didn't help.
For studio heads who are not fans of horror there's not a tremendous amount of glory in it other than the financial. A lot of these studios want to make big movies with big movie stars and that administration could never get excited about it. I think the rights now have reverted back to New Line.
During the interview, Brad and Andrew also mention that the ongoing litigation between Victor Miller, Sean Cunningham, and Horror Inc has also put a damper on any future plans for the franchise.  We all know that situation will hopefully be coming to a resolution by July or Victor's rights to the franchise would become official.

One thing that fans have also been wondering about was if Derek Mears was going to reprise the role of Jason Voorhees. Unfortunately, according to Andrew Form, he was not.
Andrew Form: No, because we were going way back. We were going to the '70s.
Brad Fuller: We would have put Derek in the movie (somewhere) anyway because we love him so much.
To read the whole interview, please visit roosterteeth.com. For us fans, it's hard for us to revisit would could have been, but hopefully by the Fall season this year we will have much more clarity on the next step for the Friday The 13th films.

Those Damn Enchiladas. Custom Demon Figure From ‘A New Beginning’

Recently, Friday The 13th: A New Beginning  as gained a lot of support from the community as a film in the franchise, and the characters within the story have garnered more appreciation as well. In fact, the characters as a whole are probably the best collection off-beat personalities in the franchise, which makes every viewing of A New Beginning that much more enjoyable. With the current boom in nostalgic character action figures from the 1980’s, we will always wonder if companies like NECA will ever release characters from the films besides Jason. With that being said, talented fans have taken it upon themselves to make these characters.

We recently found an awesome fan created figure of Demon from A New Beginning and it is a collectible definitely worth being on your shelf. The brother of Reggie The Reckless had one of the most invasive deaths in the film (and the franchise), and as such artist Ryan Snapp celebrates his death by offering his custom figure with enchiladas and rolls of toilet paper! Pretty epic stuff if I do say so. If you’re interested in his work, you can check out this and other figures at snappfinktoys.bigcartel.com and on Instagram.

Friday The 13th Soundtracks Released On iTunes

Back in January 2012, La La Land Records was the first company to release full soundtracks for the first six films in the franchise (There was a French CD release of a small sampling of Part 3 music in the late 80’s). The soundtrack producers released a highly sought after CD box set of the soundtracks that was only available in 1300 units that sold out in less than 24 hours. Afterwards, La La Land did release individual CD soundtracks of Friday The 13th 1980, and late last year,  Friday The 13th Part 2 and Part 3. It seems to be inevitable now that the fourth, fifth and sixth films will eventually receive similar releases in the near future.

Having physical copies of the music of the films is great, but what about fans who wish they could just own the scores on streaming services? Up until late last year, the only scores that could be owned on streaming was the compilation Harry Manfredini soundtrack released by the now defunct FearNet in 2011 and the Fred Mollin scores for The New Blood and Jason Takes Manhattan. That has all changed now as La La Land Records has released the first three film's soundtracks on iTunes!

If you have an Apple Music subscription, these titles are available to play now. Check out iTunes if you're interested in purchasing the soundtracks for the first time.

Fan Recreates ‘Jason Goes To Hell’ Demon Model Set

$

Many fans remember the ending of Jason Goes To Hell where Jason Voorhees is pulled underneath the ground by demon hands to be sent to Hell. The finale used practical effects and actors to complete the scene, however, that was not the original intention for the scene. After the film's theatrical release, copies of the workprint started floating about the World Wide Web and that rough draft of the film showed a different version of the demise of Jason!

Instead of just large hands grabbing Jason to drag him underground, actual Demons emerge from the depths of Hell to take Jason home. The photo above shows a restored portion of the model with figures and environment used to shoot the finale of the film. Problems with budget as well technicalities caused the model and figures to be scratched. However, there was a lot of work put into the design of the unused model.

Now a fan has commissioned a replica piece of this model, also adding Freddy Krueger reaching for Jason! It’s a great looking diorama and homage to Jason Goes To Hell. Check out the photos below to relive Jason’s trip back to Hell.

The Friday The 13th films have a large cumulative death count among the twelve in the franchise and we all have made our own lists of the deaths, but one fan started a project a few years ago posting unique illustrations of every death in the films on her blog, and now the complete collection of the illustrations is available to purchase in one book, Death Count: All of the Deaths in the Friday the 13th Film Series.

With humor, love, and a lot of cartoon violence, Death Count celebrates the victims, survivors, killers, and other random characters encountered in the long-running Friday the 13th film series.

It's Friday The 13th and NECA has continued their current tradition of sneak peaks and reveals on this unlucky date of new offerings upcomiong for the films in the franchise. Late last night the fan favorite toy company revealed a first look at the Jason Voorhees tombstone from the opening dream sequence of Friday The 13th: A New Beginning as well as the bloody axe used to killed Lana at the diner in the middle of the film.

No other information has been given yet, but we wonder if these are being made available for an Ultimate Pseudo Jason (Roy) figure upcoming or for a new accessory pack. We shall see about this in the near future!

Unearthed Sequel Script From Twenty Years Ago Set Jason In Snow Prior To Jason X

$

It's fun to find old fan films and scripts that have been unearthed from over twenty years ago and that is what two fans have done and brought to our attention to help celebrate Friday The 13th! Two filmmakers set out to make their Friday The 13th film prior to the release of Jason X and once even approached Sean Cunningham with their script. Read on for the fun story about their script and read it in it's entirety below.

Around 1999, before the release of the official tenth Friday the 13th film, filmmakers David Buchert(In The Dark, Blood Oath) and Robert Ziegler(Fear Of Clowns 2, Blood Oath) wrote their own love letter to Friday fans; Jason X : Hell Freezes Over. The idea was simple, to bring back their favorite characters and to set it in the snow. Two things the fans have been screaming for. As a surprise present to Friday the 13th fans, the script is finally being released online.

Buchert “Every Friday the 13th fan has a list of what they want in a Friday film. We wanted to make the ultimate fan film; full of references, characters we love and of course, finally getting to see blood covered snow!”

Ziegler “Sean Cunningham was doing a convention and we decided to write the script for fun and pitch it to him. That gave us a limited amount of time to actually work on it. ”

Buchert “The basic outline was pretty simple to knock out. Since it took place in the winter we immediately knew how Jason was going to get his new hockey mask. I think that scene alone would have been enough to make the audience cheer.”

Ziegler “I think the fans would have been thrilled to see their favorite “final girl” fight Jason one last time. We also included a sort of “where are they now?” idea bringing back a few minor characters from previous films and even a character that was only mentioned in one of the novelizations.”

Buchert “A lot of the ideas were logical progressions to us. Crystal Lake is being turned into a lakefront housing development, Tommy and Megan own Karloff’s General Store, Deputy Cologne is the sheriff and Ginny is a child psychologist. Things like that”

With a finished script in hand, Ziegler finally met Sean Cunningham. Unfortunately, Buchert was working in Nashville on a film set and wasn’t able to go to the convention.

Buchert “Jonathan, another friend of ours, was able to be there for the pitch and said Sean was visibly interested. I was getting updates from the show. It was killing me to not be there.”

Ziegler “As I was making the pitch I could tell he was really struck by our ideas. Afterwards, he congratulated me on blending several concepts that had been discussed as possible sequels that hired writers had never managed to make work.”

Buchert “Here’s where we obviously ran into problems. Since our script was full of characters from nearly every film, the rights issues for characters would have been insane. Who knows how many ghost writers there were on those movies?”

Ziegler “ Not to mention that the Friday the 13th franchise had recently moved to New Line and they couldn’t even use Friday the 13th in the title. It was seriously complicated.”

Roughly nineteen years have passed since Buchert and Ziegler wrote their Friday the 13th script. Only two Friday films(not counting Freddy Vs. Jason) have been made in that timeframe.

Buchert “One of the funniest things about our script is a single similarity to a scene in the Friday the 13th remake. Bob and I were watching the movie on opening day and when it got to a certain scene, we looked at each other not believing what was happening.”

Ziegler “True, but it was a total coincidence. We had a great idea of how to kill Jason and so did the writers of the remake. Only we did it ten years earlier.”

Buchert “This is basically just a first draft. Since we didn’t have rights to anything we never really worked on it after the pitch to Sean.”

Ziegler “But the script is pretty solid. The ideas are there. The scenes flow. It’s a movie we’d want to see.”

With recent studio rights, a lawsuit by original writer Victor Miller, several rejected scripts and false starts, no one knows when we’ll actually get to see Jason kill again on the big screen. In the meantime, this is something by fans for the fans. Happy Friday the 13th!

‘The Dark Heart Of Jason Voorhees’ Doc Gets New Poster

Over the years, I have taken a lot of heat over my affinity for the divisive film Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday.  I hope that our readers and all fans recognize that I do not love the film blindly and recognize the huge departure from formula that Jason Goes To Hell represents. Knowing the numerous faults involved with the production, I still love this film.

Even more than the actual film, I truly appreciate the strong marketing and tie-in promotions that New Line Cinema used to create awareness. This site is littered with examples of my fondess for the marketing and props from the film, so I am extremely delighted to tell our readers that a brand new documentary is being produced by Jason Goes To Hell director Adam Marcus!

Nick Hunt will direct The Dark Heart of Jason Voorhees: The Making of the Final Friday, which will provide a never-before-seen and much deserved in-depth look at the most controversial and debated film in the franchise. The documentary is being produced by Jason Goes to Hell director Adam Marcus. Chris Fischer designed the new poster which can be found below.

From the press release:
Through interviews and behind the scenes details, you will understand the unique landscape the series was in at the time, having just changed studios and already being on the road to the eventual Freddy vs. Jason film which wouldn’t see release for another 8 years. You will see the unusual hand Adam Marcus was dealt and the immense pressure and scrutiny which was placed on him during production. And you will see genre greats, both who were in the film and not, weigh in on Jason’s journey to hell.

In Jason Goes to Hell, you learned secrets about Jason you never knew before! In The Dark Heart of Jason Voorhees, you will understand what was and what could have been about The Final Friday!

More details about the documentary will be made available in the near future. Stay tuned!

New Trailer And Release Date Announced For ‘To Hell And Back’ Kane Hodder Doc

Kane Hodder is truly a horror icon and beloved by his fans. He is deeply rooted in the Friday The 13th franchise and always loves engaging with the fans of Jason Voorhees. His life story has been told in the book Unmasked, but now Masterfully Macabre Entertainment is ready to unleash their biographical documentary on Kane’s life.

To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story will be released in select theaters on June 28 and 29 before hitting VOD and Bu-ray/DVD on July 13 via Dread Central Presents. Watch the trailer below.

Directed by Derek Dennis Herbert, the documentary explores the storied career of horror icon Kane Hodder, who’s best known for portraying Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part VII through Jason X.

With over 100 acting credits, largely within the horror genre, Hodder holds the distinction of killing more people on screen than anyone in the history of cinema. He’s also an accomplished stunt performer and coordinator. But a near-fatal burn during a stunt gone wrong nearly prevented it all.

The film features interviews with Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead), Sid Haig (The Devil’s Rejects), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Danielle Harris (Halloween), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Jack Coleman (Heroes), Adam Green (Hatchet), John Carl Buechler (Friday the 13th Part VII), Sean S. Cunningham (Friday the 13th) and more.
